Now that the summer season has arrived, with the trees that have fully blossomed in rich shades of colour, with the birds singing sweetly in the trees every morning, with the clear blue sky and the clouds floating that look like the wings of angels, with the cool breeze of the wind that hits the face(a refreshing feeling from the humidity), with seeing the squirrels playing in the garden climbing up the trees, and with the flowers brightly coloured in many of the gardens in the neighbourhood, summer is definitely here to stay, until the next season anyway!
The intricacy of a flower is so amazing and beautiful in it’s design, that heaven must be full of tulips, lilacs, hyacinths, mandevillas, lavenders, carnations, dead nettles, marigolds, zinnias, daffodils, snapdragons, begonias, sweet alyssums, four o’clocks, iceplants, and many more popular flowers, such as perennials and evergreens.
Isn’t it amazing that such wonder and beauty, can bloom from a single seed! Even since the month of May poppies, cosmos, marigolds, sunflowers and zinnias took over the gardens.
At the back and front of the house where i’m renting a room at the moment are a few daffodils and weeds. Well i’m no gardener and the only time that i go into the garden is to hang the washing clothes on the line.
Many years ago my twin brother would always investigate every living thing that moved in the soil. He just wouldn’t stop digging. Only God knows how many insects he kept in the glass jar. I was the terrible twin and would kill as many insects as i could. (forgive me God!) Well i definitely wasn’t planting seeds in the garden of my mind then!
Who has heard the story of the mustard seed in the new testament of the Bible. Jesus’s very own words in Matthew 13:31-32…Jesus told the crowd another story. He said, ” The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed. Someone took the seed and planted it in a field. It is the smallest of all seeds. But when it grows, it is the largest of all garden plants. It becomes a tree. Birds come and rest in it’s branches.”
It’s so amazing what we believe. I’ve been reading a few books lately about people’s lives. The testimonial experiences are very moving. The scars and emotional pain that people are carrying is just unbelievable, and the majority of it starts in childhood by what our parents said or how we were treated by others or even our surrounding environments. Our up bringing can really affect our futures if we don’t discern the seeds planted or growing in our minds.
Just like in the garden, we can grow flowers which are positive thoughts or weeds which are negative thoughts. The mind is always hungry and come to think of it, it’s never satisfied…..so feed it well!
Here’s a quote by RUMI
“Every leaf that grows will tell you: what you sow will bear fruit, so if you have any sense my friend, don’t plant anything but Love”
How sweet is that!
WILLIAM WORDSWORTH said, “Your mind is a garden. Your thoughts are the seeds. The harvest can either be flowers or they can be weeds.”
1 Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not want what belongs to others. It does not brag. It is not proud. It does not dishonour other people. It does not look out for it’s own interests. It does not easily become angry. It does not keep track of other people’s wrongs. Love is not happy with evil. But it is full of joy when truth is spoken. It always protects. It always trusts. It always hopes. It never gives up. Love never fails. PAUL THE APOSTLE.
What awesome seeds to help the heart grow in love. Amazing!
So when digging up the garden to throw out the weeds, with double action weed killer or hand tools or even machinery, you can do that with the mind.
Instead of weed killer, kill the negative thoughts with positive thoughts and keep training the mind like that. Instead of hand tools, be open with a trusted close friend or family member. Instead of machinery, use weapons of prayer, a fighting spirit and determination.
Because everyday, psychologists have discovered that the average person has more than 6,000 thoughts in a single day, so that mental, spiritual, psychological even physical training is needed on a daily basis.
Just to let you know apparently 80% of the thoughts are negative…..W-H-A-T!!! ????????????????????
If you are like me and have read the Bible from the book of Genesis all the way through to the Book of Revelations, there are mentioned 4 significant gardens, THE GARDEN OF EDEN, THE GARDEN OF GETHSEMANE, THE GARDEN OF GOLGOTHA, AND THE GARDEN OF GOD!
Now this gets really interesting as each garden represents God’s eternal plan for each and every human being, from the beginning of time till the end of time.
Eden is the garden of sin. The question is does sin have a grip on your life? Don’t let it grow. Romans 8:3 The written law was made weak by the power of sin. But God did what the written law could not do. He made His Son to be like those who live under the power of sin. God sent Him to be an offering for sin. Jesus suffered God’s judgement against our sin.
That is a beautiful sacrifice!
Gethsemane is the garden of suffering. If you are suffering in any way, take it to the Lord in prayer! Jesus took the punishment for everyone’s sin. Matthew 26:56 “…But all this has happened so that the words of the prophets would come true.”…
We grow beautifully when we come out at the other end of our sufferings, overcoming and becoming stronger and even helping others to overcome!
Golgotha is the garden of victory. Jesus was laid to rest in a garden. To know Jesus and the word of God, according to His will, is the victory. 1 Corinthians 15:55 “Death where is the victory you thought you had? Death where is your sting?”(Hosea13:14).
The truth of life is, although mysterious, is a most wonderful and beautiful thing!
Paradise is the garden of God. Depending on what seeds you sow in the garden of your mind you can choose what your garden will look like, not only now because it’s Summer but throughout the whole of eternity! Philippians 3:20 But we are citizens of Heaven. And we can hardly wait for a Saviour from there. He is the Lord Jesus Christ.
When is Your Mind Like a Garden?
Eternal life is the meaning of life! Beautiful!
The mind is always like a garden
Take care of it always in every way
Nourishing the heart, don’t let it harden
Recognize what’s happening every day
